Thurs 21st July Rolling meeting

As I put on elsewhere on the forum I decided that a proper meeting was pretty pointless this month ( quiet at the back no) so we had a ride instead.

Leaving from the sheds at North country at 7pm was

Me , Adam , Andy , Gideon , Graham and Ian

I had never met Ian before so was nice to see another new face . Hi had a tidy TTr250 with a mahooooosive fuel tank .

It was still pretty hot and sweaty so a gentle steady ride was in order. We got as far as Goonbell when Ian had a rear flat . No real problem apart from his cheapy trials tyre was a right **** to fit even after being covered in his dodgy pink slime form his camelbak.

That done we rode a few more lanes before stopping for a shandy at Chiverton arms ( bloody dear- thought andy wouldnt stop moaning about it despite me paying !)

Other points of note were cars full of people dressed up as dalmations in Porthtowan ( faces painted and all) and a bloke in a skimpy girls outfit - makeup and all ! Carrying a broken push bike near Towan Cross . The one time we needed Andy's camera to work- and was it? Was it heck !

RE: Thurs 21st July Rolling meeting Impressions of an Old/Newbie?.

Finally managed to link up with CRTF. Arriving at Phil's l was greeted by a Cornish gentleman who shall remain nameless, not sure what l did wrong? Breathing Cornish air without a license l think.Next, enter the gladiators with our leader, and thankfully we were off.Rode some old and new lanes and problems, a new rider is always under scrutiny at first until you slot in. I kept up, so things settled down, and then it happened, Graham smiled at me! I knew l was over the first hurdle. Next thing of note was the pink leotard clad distressed cyclist, l felt my noble side emerging, then realized it was a man!! Oh well you can't be fussy at my age. Then came the 4 inch nail, everyone stayed to help/abuse which was nice.More lanes a chandy and more abuse followed. An enjoyable and unexpected ride out, thanks Phil and all. Ian.
