well here goes a brief summery of the iom trip 2017
after loading the bikes and kit on the weds eve phil wayne myself in phils van and martin, andrew and chris in martins van set off from cornwall at around 5:30 am, a little earlier for jeff and his bro and a lot later for flash, wayne and andy, we all met at heysham port and set of on a very calm and beer laiden crossing that sort of set the tone of the weekend.
after meeting lee our guide when we got there he took us to his place were we unloaded the bikes into his garage and made our way to a very nice hotel then out for food and beer.
the first day saw us set off around 9:30 am and do 110 miles of nearly all lanes with very very little road work, it was straight into miles of lanes covered in loose slate, stone, rock and water at times very steep but well worth it when the fog suddenly cleared and revealed stunning views of the island,a stop at a couple of big stubble fields gave everyone, some more than others a chance to rag around for half hour, then back onto yet more stunning lanes
day 2 was much of the same but only 80 miles this time, including the easy slab!!ha only eric and wayne managed to clean the cooil veg slate step in one with wayne making it look like a walk in the park, then on to 9 mile lane that actualy is only 6.5 miles but feels like 9!! day 2 finished a little earlier (a welcome relief by then for all i think) with a quick jet wash of a few bikes and then the hotel bar!! sunday saw us visit a local land mark while all feeling a little hung over then 15:00 ferry to eventualy get back to cornwall around 00:30
gladly the whole trip went without incident no punctures or big offs, however andy kept us all entertained with thinking his legs were longer than they realy are and his attraction to erics footrest to wanting to keep riding his bike over hedges or parking in trees!!
probably one of the best away trips ive done.........so far the best lanes ive seen and a great bunch to do it with, thanks all for making it so good! lee our guide had the right pace, amount of riding time and kept the day flowing perfectly
hopefuly now ive started this report everyone who has any pics or video will add to it and add their thoughts of the trip
roll on the next one

Superb trip enjoyed every minute( apart from the M6 on the way home ) The company was great and the laughter was non stop, with some of the best riding you could wish for.
Bloody awesome trip from start to finish despite the m6's best efforts . Seriously tired when I got home at about 1.45 am after hitting a deer coming out of lanivet . Evie woke me at 6am too so that was nice .
Plenty piss taking and drinks . Awesome tricky lanes and a good pace . Good company , good food , what more could a man want .
Get planning the next one Compo - France with loads of mud and trees please.
i have to agree, was the best weekend trial riding so far for me... after a steep/fast learning curve with video editing i have a DAY 2 compilation of clips almost finished and will be on tonight,
france sounds like winner for me and mark!!! have a link somewhere i will dig it out
Fantastic few days on the iom. Great riding and company. Some of the lanes were relentless. Thanks to Lee for leading, John for organising the trip and phil for taking his van. Oh and thanks to Geoff and Mark for the videos. Let's do it again next year
it looks like the best places are normandy or limoges, tbh it will turn into a major break rather that a weekend jolly, im ok with that but not sure what sort of group we could get together. it will take some organising maybee an overnight ferry from plymouth as the driving times in france arnt too bad around 6.30 hrs to where jeff said about 7.30 to normandy!!
Quality couple of days riding. Eric made it look easy Phil ! Our ferry back was interesting Stuntman Andy spewed & Ye that M6 was a nightmare Navigator Andy sorted us a detour & we got home 5pm ! I feel keen for a france trip before brexit
